I was also a beginner skier and instantly recognisable on the nursery slope
with my “heli-pack” just in case there was some extreme skiing to be had, earning me the nickname “extreme” Pete.
My skiing was however soon to take a huge leap forward as Simon took me under his wing, probably through fear that I was going to cause an accident, but nevertheless it was his genuine desire to see everyone’s skiing improve to the highest level that allowed me to advance quickly to the point where I became hooked.
After working my way through the departments of the two chalets, including “one armed” chef and nanny, I managed the Soleil D’Or for a couple of seasons, before returning to the UK to pursue a career in the city with a Sports Marketing company. I quickly realised however that my over-riding passion for hospitality and thirst for an outdoor and “extreme” lifestyle was too great to stop me returning to Megeve to live full-time.
I think of Megeve as a home from home, with its magical winter lights, tree-lined runs, crisp mountain air and most of all the people that stay and work with us. I get a huge amount of satisfaction from ensuring that they have the same outstanding experience that I have been fortunate enough to have had, create the crazy stories that we all look back on with fond memories and truly feel a part of the family.
I also can’t wait to be out in Megeve next summer and will be taking full advantage of the mountain biking, golfing and white water rafting as well as learning to paraglide and getting out on the open road on my new motorbike. Hope you can join me!
