Want to holiday in a resort with a 'wow' factor - then look no further than Megève. This traditional alpine village in the Mont Blanc region really does have it all. The village with its cobbled streets is closed to traffic and boasts designer boutiques, cafes, bars and a full range of restaurants, as well as a casino and jazz club. Wherever you look the mountain views are spectacular. Megève has a long history and fine reputation. It hosts many spectacular events including World cup races, Polo Masters, ice hockey, ice dancing and figure skating championships - there's even a snow Golf Cup competition!
High up, the ski area is extensive and covers Megève as well as neighbouring Saint Gervais, Saint - Nicolas de Veroce, Combloux, La Giettaz and Les Contamines-Montjoie, a total area of 445 kilometers.
There's a modern, high speed lift system in place which is continually upgraded to meet demand, the pistes are well maintained and there are 438 snow cannons in place to ensure that conditions remain consistent.
Beginner s can enjoy learning on the gentle nursery slopes at the Mont d'Arbois, Plateau and the Chamois with their dedicated areas and easy lifts.
First steps will then lead onto enjoying the low level green runs such as Chateluy, a long, meandering pathway with amazing panoramic views of the mountains which winds its way down towards Saint Gervais .
For Intermediate level skiers there is an endless choice of terrain - from the long cruisy blues and reds on Mont d' Arbois and Rochebrune - to the delightful tree-lined descents from the high point at Le Jaillet.
At Cote 2000, higher end skiers can test their skills on the Women's World Cup downhill run while Mont Joly, the highest peak at 2,525 metres, offers extensive off piste bumps, and gully skiing. There are two snow parks and graded jumps and rails.
